At Kids Space Learning Center, your child’s well-being is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a safe, clean, and nurturing environment where children can learn, play, and grow with confidence. Our health and safety standards meet—and often exceed—state licensing requirements to ensure every family feels secure and supported.
A Safe Environment for Growing Minds
We take great care to maintain a center that is orderly, supervised, and thoughtfully prepared each day. Our classrooms are designed with safety in mind, using age-appropriate materials, secured furniture, and clearly marked emergency exits. Teachers maintain close supervision at all times and follow strict child-to-staff ratios to ensure every child receives attentive care.
Cleanliness & Hygiene
A clean environment is essential for healthy children. We follow a rigorous cleaning schedule throughout the day and after hours:
- Toys and surfaces are sanitized regularly
- High-touch areas are disinfected multiple times per day
- Bedding, blankets, and personal items are individually stored
- Our children practice regular handwashing before meals, after using the restroom, and after outdoor play.
- Our teachers follow strict hand-washing practices to keep children healthy and safe. They wash their hands as soon as they enter the center, before and after diaper changes, before and after preparing or serving meals, and anytime after using the restroom or returning from outdoor play.
We work together with families to keep our classrooms germ-free and promote healthy habits early in life.
Illness Policy
To protect all children and staff, we follow a clear illness policy based on state childcare guidelines. Children must remain home if they have fever, vomiting, diarrhea, contagious illnesses, or any symptoms that prevent them from participating comfortably in daily activities.
If a child becomes ill while at the center, families will be notified immediately and asked to pick up within a reasonable timeframe. Children may return once they meet the symptom-free requirements or have a doctor’s clearance when necessary.
Medication Administration
Medications—prescription or over-the-counter—are administered only with written authorization from a parent or guardian, and in accordance with state regulations. All medications:
- Must be in their original container
- Must include a clear label and dosing instructions
- Are stored securely and out of children’s reach
Our trained staff document every dose to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Allergies & Special Dietary Needs
We take allergies seriously. Families are asked to complete detailed allergy and medical forms so we can develop individualized plans to keep each child safe. This may include:
- Allergy action plans
- EpiPen storage and administration procedures
- Dietary restrictions
- Classroom signage and reminders for staff
We work closely with families to ensure consistent communication and understanding.
Emergency Preparedness
KSLC maintains a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan that covers fire, severe weather, lockdowns, evacuations, and other unexpected situations. Our safety practices include:
- Monthly fire drills and regular emergency drills
- Clearly posted evacuation routes
- Trained staff prepared to respond calmly and effectively
- An established relocation site if we cannot re-enter the building
Parents are notified as soon as it is safe and appropriate during any emergency event.
Secure Check-In & Pick-Up Procedures
Children are released only to authorized individuals listed on your child’s enrollment forms. Our secure check-in/check-out system ensures accurate tracking of who enters and exits the building. Any changes to authorized pick-ups must be submitted in writing to ensure your child’s safety.
Outdoor & Playground Safety
Our outdoor spaces are routinely inspected and maintained to ensure safe, age-appropriate play. Staff supervise children closely at all times and use shade, hydration routines, and weather guidelines to keep outdoor play safe and enjoyable.
Partnering With Families
We believe health and safety are shared responsibilities. We encourage open communication with parents, prompt updates to medical and emergency information, and collaboration when special circumstances arise. Together, we create a secure environment where children can thrive.
